People have asked me, "Why are you running for County Commissioner?"
The answer is simple—because Mahnomen is home.
I was born and raised here. This community has shaped who I am, and it's where my husband and I have built our life together for the past 32 years while raising our three sons. Mahnomen has given so much to my family, and I believe there comes a time when you step forward and give something back.
Growing up, I watched my dad dedicate years of his life serving on the City Council. He taught me that leadership isn't about titles or recognition. It's about showing up, listening to people, making difficult decisions, and always putting the community first. He led by example, and those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life.
My own path has always been one of service. As a business owner, I've learned the importance of responsible budgeting, leadership, and supporting employees. As an EMT, I've been there for people on some of the hardest days of their lives. Through my work with the White Earth Nation, I've learned professionalism, accountability, and the importance of treating everyone with fairness and respect. I've volunteered in my church and community because I've always believed that strong communities are built by people who are willing to help.
Today, Mahnomen County faces important challenges. We need to support our emergency services, create opportunities for our seniors to remain in the community they helped build, strengthen services for working families, and make thoughtful decisions with taxpayer dollars. I don't claim to have every answer, but I do promise this: I will listen. I will work hard. I will be prepared. And every decision I make will be guided by what is best for the people of Mahnomen County—not politics, not personal agendas, but our community.
I'm running because I believe in this county, I believe in the people who call it home, and I believe that together we can build an even stronger future for the next generation.
Our first responsibility is keeping our communities safe. I will support responsible funding for our EMS, law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management services so they have the equipment, training, and resources they need to respond when our residents need them most.
